Papertake Weekly Dawny's Sketch 7

Friday already, this week has just flown by again. I just haven't had much time to make cards, I've been busy socialising.Unfortunately
on Monday I had to decline dinner with my friends as I was too tired and had a large mouth ulcer which meant I didn't feel like eating or going out so apologies girls, hopefully next time. I did meet some friends for coffee on Tuesday afternoon as it didn't involve eating.I spent yesteday at my friend Val's having a girly day chatting and looking at her cards, all whilst I was trying to fix her pc which I am pleased to say I did. So Val is now connected back to the internet and can check out everyone's blogs again.
This card is for Dawny's Sletch over at Papertake Weekly I decided I would do some resist embossing for a change. I love this stamp it is so versatile it can be used for Birthdays,Thank You, Get Well,Sympathy.Flower doodle backing paper was a free download but I can't remember from where.
Have a great weekend and wrap up warm. It is supposed to snow here in Essex in the next few days so that means staying indoors, just the excuse I need so that I can make some more cards.

Sketch & Stash No 2

It's a lovely bright sunny day here in Essex which makes a change after all the rain we have had the last dew days.I thought I would just spread the word in case you haven't heard there is a brand new Challenge Blog Sketch & Stash.Well new to me I missed the first challenge. It's a fortnightly challenge so plenty of time. You have to use your new or neglected stash on your card and say what the items are.
So my stash is the flowered backing paper which a friend gave me and my new Messy Rabbit Stamp.

Putting my heart on the line for you.

Hooray my migraine has finally gone so I felt more like making a card today.
This card fits neatly into three challenges this week. Sketch Saturday No 35 for the layout. Charisma Cardz Challenge no 3 which this week is Love and lastly for Daring Cardmakers which is to give it some heart. I really should have photographed this during the day but hey ho at least I finished the card. The heart is a stamp from Sugar and Spice crafts.

I've been tagged.

I've been tagged by Nicola. So what does that mean you ask?
The instructions are,
1. Navigate to where you keep your pictures, select the 6th folder, and the 6th picture in that folder.
2. Post the picture on your blog with an explanation about the picture.
3. Tag 6 others to do the same, and let them know they have been tagged!

So this is my little cockatoo buddy Toby when he was poorly a couple of years ago and I had to try and give him some medicine.Plastic syringes don't last long with a beak like that. Thankfully he made a full recovery and is now back to getting into mischief.

So the six people I am going to tag are.
1 Gill at Crafty Times
2 Jackie at Pink Diamond Workshop
3 Naoual at A Scrapable Life
4 Andrea at Andie's Blog
5 Barbara at Hunnybunnycards.
6 Jaqueline at Creja Kaarten

So ladies and gents, if there are any out there, grab yourselves an award you all deserve it for reading my blog and for your wonderful creations.

Sketch Saturday No 34

Better late than never. I've finally got around to Sketch Saturday No 34. I've not done much card making this week as I've been suffering from a migraine for the last few days. What with that and my hands having pins and needles and pains in my legs it's been a difficult week. I did think about going out for some fresh air but didn't get far as it was far too cold for me to be out and about. At least the sun is shining after last nights heavy rain which kept me awake. In fact the sun is shining so brightly at the moment is has made the photo look a little paler than it really is. The image is from Penny Black and once again I have been trying to use up scraps of paper I've had for ages so that I can make room for more.

All in Red

I hope you all had a good weekend. I didn't do much as my legs. back and arm were hurting too much which was really annoying as it was bright and sunny yesterday and I would have liked to have gone out.
Instead I stayed in and made this card, not that that was much of a hardship. This is for Fridays Sketchers No 35. I had to think about this one but got there in the end. Backing paper is from Funky Fairys Papercrafts. The text is recycled from an old birthday card,

Three Challenges in one

I just love this stamp from Particraft. I have managed to combine two challenges with this card. The first is for Friday Sketchers sketch no 34. the second is for A Spoon Full of Sugar also challenge 34 which was to use paper piecing. The thirs is for Charisma Cards whose first ever challenge is to use pink I have added a touch of sparkle to her wrap using Stampin'Up heat and stick and glitter. It doesn't show too well as I've had to photograph this evening rather than in daylight.I'll try to take a better photograph in daylight I've also used Stampin'Up Chocolate chip paper.

WOW another award

I can't believe it I've received another award. This is called 'The Marie Antoinette' a Real Person, a Real Award. This is from Lorraine over at Lorraine's Loft so thank you Lorraine.Do check out her blog it's full of inspiration and lovely pictures of her cats.
Now the rules are to link to the person who gave you the award so that's Lorraine above and to pass on to 7 people linking them and letting them know.
So here goes in no particular order.
Mrs Wonka
and last but not least Claire.

Please check them out they are all great blogs full of lovely cards and inspiration.

Today I have gone into recycle mode. A lovely lady called Stella gave me some of her old birthday and Christmas cards yesterday to see what I could do with them.So this weeks entry for Papertake Weekly Dawnys sketch 6 challenge is a card made from recycled bits and bobs. The sketch seemed just perfect for me to use for this.
Claire also told me about another blog Daring Cardmakers and so this card is also for that challenge which this week happens to be to make a card using recycled items. Thanks Claire for pointing me in the direction of Daring Cardmakers.
The pink card is from an old birthday that I had. The rose paper I forget where it came from as I have had this little scrap for ages. The glitter corners I cut from an old Christmas card. The topper is from a Birthday Card which I again mounted on pink card.. To make the tag stand out a little more I have backed it with more pink card.I don't think anyone would realise that it was made from recycled bits and bobs do you?

Sketch Saturday No 33

Well I hope you have all had a good weekend. I did try venturing out today but my car wouldn't start, probably because it hasn't been used for three weeks so the battery was flat. So I spent the morning trying to get Toby into a new cage which I have been trying to do on and off for the last 10 years. He just doesn't want to know even though it's three times the size of his old one. I decided to give up and make another card. If all else fails do some crafting instead. This is for Sketch Saturday No 33 As you can see I am still playing with my Forever Friends stamps from Christmas. Backing papers once again come from Mommy Scraps.

Boys Will Be Boys

What a surprise when I opened the curtains at 3.00am this morning to see what had woken me up,only to discover it was snowing and two foxes were rolling around in the snowing playing in the middle of the road.I decided it was to cold to go out this afternoon so sat and made another card. This for the Secret Crafters Saturday Challenge No 13 which I have never done before. As soon as I saw it I knew what I wanted to do. The pocket and text come from a great site I found Mommys Scraps. I altered this size of the pocket. Then changed the colour of the text and placed it in the pocket using Paintshop Pro.I can't remember where the striped paper is from but it was perfect for this card. The stamp is from Clear Choice.

This is my first challenge for 2009. I'm full of bright ideas so my hubby keeps saying to me.This is for Sketch Saturday sketch No 32.
